Learning criteria
- Consider some current theories and research around causes and prevalence of FASD
- Describe signs and indicators of FAS and FASD including the difficulties of characteristics overlapping with those of other syndromes
- Evaluate the importance of early identification of FASD in improving the long term outcomes for individuals
- Explain how you can work positively and effectively to enable children and young people with FASD to manage impairments and build on strengths
- Discuss the value of working in multi-disciplinary teams in providing the most effective long \u2013term provision for FASD sufferers
- Analyse how complexities in diagnoses and treatment impact on the life chances of children and young people
- Demonstrate how discrimination against children and young people with FASD can be addressed
