Everyone in the children's workforce must know how to protect children from harm. This course enables learners to understand what adults do that causes harm to children, how to recognise the signs that a child or young person is being harmed.

Know about child abuse, child protection and safeguarding children
- Identify key elements of the law and national guidance on safeguarding and protecting children and young people
- Show awareness of different ways in which children and young people can be harmed or placed at risk.
- Show awareness of the extent of child abuse.
- Explain how individuals, teams and other groups work together to protect children
