Strengthening Connected Relationships
KCA is here to enable people to build and strengthen connected relationships, using evidence from research to improve everyday interactions, everywhere.
Find out more about Knowledge Change Action...
Five to Thrive is a way of understanding how connected relationships are fundamental to human wellbeing, helping to build resilient communities, and how we can promote these attachment bonds
Mending Hurts promotes recovery from trauma by enabling people to notice what they, or other people, do in their most effective interactions with people when they are more vulnerable or traumatized. When we notice ourselves doing something well, we become more conscious of our activity and more competent in it
Creating Connections between human beings lies at the heart of individual and community resilience, and, indeed, at the heart of KCA’s work. Our resilience mapping tools open up conversations about the network around people when they are feeling more vulnerable. This can offer insights that guide intervention and support.
Holding Together offers a systemic intervention to build resilience in the team around a child when they are more vulnerable or traumatised
Susan was brilliant. her knowledge and understanding around the issues related to attachment was excellent and the passion for the topic areas was clearly demonstrated by facts and real work example. inspiring.

Very calming approach and positive to encourage us that we can make a difference... I thought it was really important to be reminded of children who have experienced previous traumas and the effect Covid 19 may have on them.

The explanation of how the way the brain works in terms of attachment and resilience was absolutely fascinating and so we'll presented to make it understandable to someone who knows little about brain development.

I will use the Five to Thrive Model to support my self reflection and inform my day to day working practises. I will use the Mending Harm Model to inform how I drive my daily conversations with my customers of all ages.

It was the first training I have accessed using zoom which seemed to work well. Really useful to have printed the notes out before it started.

The lecture by Kate Cairns was incredibly moving and thought provoking. I have taken a lot away from this, even in the 2 days since the conference. Remembering to provide empathetic responses to everyone around me, including myself, as we navigate through the current climate.

I thought our trainer, Susan was brilliant - she has a lot of knowledge and delivers it in a way that is easy to understand. Her delivery kept me interested and engaged throughout. I really liked that everything was on slides so we didn't need to do lots of writing. I recognised good things that I am doing everyday that I sometimes forget are really important. Its so good to remind everyone that "bad behaviour" can sometimes be a symptom of trauma, and the persons need for attachment and help to regulate.

I could listen to her all day. She is so very well informed and has a really fantastic way of delivering the material with the right blend of academics and 'on-the-ground' real life experiences.
